Fox Pest Control’s Baton Rouge Branch is excited to announce that its sponsoring the Sickle Cell Association of South Louisiana’s 2022 Ryan’s Run/Walk 5K taking place on Saturday, September 3, at Galvez Plaza.
An annual fundraiser, the 5K promotes education and awareness for those living with sickle cell diseases, a genetic blood disorder affecting more than 100,000 people in the United States. Funds raised from the event stay within the South Louisiana community, providing services such as housing, transportation, education, and fun activities to those living with the disease.
Originally the Baton Rouge Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation, in 2018, the organization changed the name of the Foundation to the Sickle Cell Association of South Louisiana, Inc. (SCASL) to expand its services to individuals living with sickle cell disease across the southern portion of the state. Today, the non-profit serves more than 600 individuals across more than a dozen parishes including Ascension, Assumption, East and West Baton Rouge, East and West Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, and Tangipahoa.
For more than 48 years, SCASL has provided support and resources to those living with sickle cell disease as well as their caregivers. We look forward to seeing SCASL continue its work and increase its reach, impact and offerings as needed.
We look forward to seeing this year’s participants cross the finish line! Thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of those impacted by sickle cell disease.
