Growing up, Fox Pest Control’s co-founders Mike Romney and Bryant White never dreamed they’d one day own one of the top pest control companies in the country. But, here they are today, leading the #15 Pest Control Company as ranked by Pest Control Technology Magazine, and one of the fastest-growing privately-owned companies according to Inc. Magazine.
Through their entrepreneurial journey, Mike and Bryant have been presented with big challenges and even bigger opportunities; they’ve met amazing people and learned valuable lessons about themselves and business. Today, Mike and Bryant run Fox Pest Control with a focus on personal and professional development, honing in on leadership as the pinpoint of success. But they aren’t just focused on helping Fox team members grow; they want to help anyone that is willing to learn, make mistakes and push to make their dreams a reality.
Recently, the team at Fox Pest Control’s Baton Rouge branch learned that the Young Entrepreneurs Academy of Baton Rouge (YEA BR) was looking for community partners to help make their 2022 programs a success. Information about YEA BR’s needs and mission – unlocking the potential of young, aspiring entrepreneurs – soon made it to Mike and Bryant, as well as Brogan Searle, Fox’s Baton Rouge branch owner, resulting in instantaneous support of the organization.
If you’re not familiar with YEA BR, it’s a chapter of the national YEA program which was founded in 2004 at the University of Rochester with support from the Kauffman Foundation. The organization’s focus is to transform high school students into confident entrepreneurs by offering a set curriculum alongside input, experiences and support of Baton Rouge business leaders, educators, community members and entrepreneurs. The experience-based program, “enables students to transform their ideas into enterprises; creates a culture of innovation through the area; and fosters an entrepreneurial mindset in the young members of the community. Additionally, select students under the instruction of the LSU E.J. Ourso College of Business, launch their own business by generating an idea, writing a business plans, filing their business with the Secretary of State’s office and pitching their company to investors in order to secure funding.
If you know of a young, future entrepreneur that would be a good fit, encourage them to apply for the program here. Applications are open to students from the nine-parishes in the Baton Rouge area — Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana parishes.
We believe that an investment in the leaders and business owners of tomorrow is a good one. We’re proud to be able to offer our support to YEA BR, and we look forward to seeing the businesses that come out this year’s program!
