How to Draw a Cute Spider with the Sketchin’ Tech

Sketchin’ Tech is a fun, family-friendly drawing show on YouTube where you can draw all kinds of bugs. Some bugs are beneficial, some bugs are pests, but all are fascinating and fun to draw!

Spiders are mostly harmless, but oh, so creepy! In this episode, we will learn how to draw a cute, happy little spider just in time for Halloween.

So, get your art supplies ready, and watch this video to start drawing.

Parents, here are some fun facts about spiders you can share with your kids:

There are two tarantula categories, named after which side of the world you can find them: Old World and New World. New World tarantulas have urticating hair that has barbs to puncture predators, acting as a defense mechanism. They can shoot little needle-like hairs to keep predators away. Now, that is a trick Spider-Man could use!

Bola spiders go fishing for moths. They put a sticky substance, kind of like glue, on the end of a line of silk web and swing it to catch the moths. Who knew some spiders could fish?

Many spiders can bite, but not as many are venomous, so most are not dangerous. In fact, in the U.S., there are only two dangerous spiders, the black widow and the brown recluse.

In Italy, long ago, it was believed that if you didn’t do this crazy dance to a specific song after being bitten by a wolf spider, you’d die.

The dance became known as the tarantella.

The dance is still around today. So, spiders may be creepy, but humans are pretty weird!

Have you ever wondered why some people decorate with fake spiders around Halloween? Spiders are a spooky icon of Halloween for a few reasons. First of all, they have 8 legs, and they either move fast or very slowly. Imagine seeing a spider crawl up its silky web – it can be pretty creepy, right?

They also live in dark, spooky places and scurry around at night. During Halloween, people like to dress up as scary creatures, and spiders fit right into the spooky theme. Their webs are like magic traps, just perfect for catching unsuspecting insects. So, when you see fake spiders and webs during Halloween, remember that they’re just there to give us a fun fright and make the holiday more exciting!

Although most spiders are not venomous, they are considered pests, partly due to the common fear of them and because they can be in large numbers. No one likes having spiders in their house. That’s why Fox Pest Control protects your home from spiders all year long with the Home Protection Plan. If you ever see a spider, we’ll come back for free and re-treat the inside of your home; just give us a call! (888)564-0321
