Summer is here, and so are wasps, hornets, and mosquitos. Here are some tips to make sure your next cookout won’t be ruined by these pests.
Citronella candles are an inexpensive and easy way to keep mosquitos out of your yard this summer. Pick some up from your local garden center, hardware store or superstore. While you’re there you can check out other options as well, like citronella tiki torch fluid.
Not only will a backyard fan keep everyone at the party cool, but it will also keep out unwanted guests. A standard box fan or oscillating fan produces enough wind that airborne insects will have a tough time flying into the party.
Don’t want mosquitos in your yard? Don’t let them be born there. Mosquitos lay eggs in bodies of standing water, and they are not picky about where it is. This means that any standing water in your birdbath, flowerpots, or children’s play set could be a potential breeding ground. Dump it out frequently and keep the bugs away.
Wasps and Hornets are enticed by food on plates, food in serving dishes, and especially food that has been thrown out. Make sure that your garbage and recycling are covered or indoors to keep these pests away.
Not only does starting the party early raise your chances of getting a full night of sleep, but it also lowers the chances of mosquito problems. Mosquitos are nocturnal, meaning they are most active at night, and they won’t be such a nuisance during the day. If the daytime doesn’t work, refer back to citronella candles.
