Contest Terms and Conditions
The Fox Pest Control Scholarship Contest (“Contest”) is sponsored and administered by Fox Pest Control.
This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta or Facebook.
No purchase is necessary to enter or win a Prize, and the Prize is void where prohibited. Entries limited to one (1) entry per Entrant. By entering, each Entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the decision of the judges, which shall be final in all respects.
By submitting your Entry, you acknowledge your agreement with these Official Rules, and further acknowledge and accept that personal information collected from you will be utilized as disclosed in these Official Rules and in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy located here.
Eligible Entries will be judged by designated employees of the Sponsor. The decision of the judges and the Sponsor will be final. The judges will select exactly one (1) winner (“winner”) from all Eligible Entries based on the following voting criteria:
- Core Values – 25%
- Community Involvement – 25%
- Originality & Creativity – 20%
- Clarity & Organization – 15%
- Grammar – 15%
Any ties will be determined by selecting the Essay with the highest score in the Core Values category from among the tied Essays. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible Entries received.
WINNER NOTIFICATION. The potential Winner will be notified by email on or about November 1, 2026.
Prior to receiving the Prize, the selected Winner must complete, sign, and return the following documents to Sponsor (collectively, the “Documentation”): 1) a declaration of compliance with these Official Rules, a Liability Release, and 2) a Publicity Release (where legal).
The Prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner selected if the Documentation is not returned within the required time period of fourteen (14) business days, if an Entrant fails to respond to Sponsor’s notifications, or if the Entrant’s compliance with these Official Rules cannot be verified to Sponsor’s reasonable satisfaction. Sponsor reserves the right to take any reasonable efforts to verify an Entrant’s compliance with these Official Rules before announcing the Winner and/or awarding the Prize.
Sponsor will send the Prize funds directly to the recipient’s college or university for it to be applied to the recipient’s account. The Prize can be used on any outstanding balance on the recipient’s account at the institution. If there is no outstanding balance, the Winner’s institution can leave it as an open credit or refund it to the recipient. Once the Prize is accepted by the institution, the Winner acknowledges that all communication about the money must occur between themselves and their institution, and that the Sponsor is not responsible for any actions or statements made by the institution.
Winner is solely responsible for any applicable taxes and any unspecified expenses or costs associated with a Prize or with redeeming a Prize. No substitution, exchange, assignment, or transfer of Prize is permitted except as approved by Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion. Sponsor may substitute for any prize, or any portion thereof, cash or another item of approximately comparable or greater value if a prize, or any portion thereof, becomes unavailable for any reason.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE OFFICIAL RECIPIENT. Sponsor will publicly announce the Prize in December 2026 on the Fox Pest Control Facebook page.
RIGHT TO CANCEL, MODIFY, OR DISQUALIFY. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
INTERNET. Sponsor is not responsible for any late, lost, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, undeliverable, or destroyed Entries due to system errors, failed, incomplete or garbled computer or other telecommunication transmission malfunctions, hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, typographical or system/human errors and failures, technical malfunction(s) of any telephone network or lines, cable connections, satellite transmissions, servers or providers, or computer equipment, traffic congestion on the Internet, or any combination thereof, including other telecommunication, cable, digital or satellite malfunctions which may limit an Entrant’s ability to participate.
OWNERSHIP OF ENTRIES. All Entries, including the Essays, become the exclusive property of the Sponsor. Each Entrant irrevocably assigns and transfers to Sponsor all rights in his or her Entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights associated with the Essay or any portion thereof.
PUBLICITY. Except where prohibited by law, each Entrant grants to Sponsor, and those acting under Sponsor’s authority, the royalty-free, irrevocable, and perpetual right to use, publish, and broadcast his/her name, picture, image, likeness, voice, biographical information (including course of study, major, high school, college, or university, etc.), and Entry, for the purposes of advertising, marketing and promoting Sponsor, its products and its services, and/or in relation to publicity regarding the Prize and/or future Prizes that may be sponsored by Sponsor, on a perpetual basis throughout the world and in any medium or format now existing or hereafter created, including but not limited to, internet streaming and downloading, on websites including Sponsor’s websites, other digital transmission methods, mobile applications, television broadcasts, trade shows, and in print, and on any platform including but not limited to televisions, computers, and mobile devices, without notice to, or consent or approval from, or any royalty, payment or other compensation to, the Entrant. The foregoing license grant includes the right and license to digitize, modify, alter, edit, adapt, create derivative works, display, publicly perform, exhibit, transmit, broadcast, reproduce, exploit, sell, rent, license, otherwise use, and permit others to do any of the foregoing, with respect to the Entrant’s entry. Pursuant to the foregoing, each Entrant agrees to release, defend, indemnify and hold harmless the sponsor from and against any claims, damages, or liability arising from or related to the use of his or her entry, including but not limited to claims of defamation, moral rights, attribution rights, invasion of privac,y or rights of publicity or copyright infringement.
WARRANTIES. You warrant that your Entry is your own original work and you have the right to submit your Entry to the Prize and grant the required licenses to Sponsor. You agree not to submit any content or materials that (a) infringes any third-party proprietary rights, intellectual property rights, rights of publicity or endorsement, personal or moral rights or any other rights, including without limitation, copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, privacy, publicity or confidentiality obligations; or (b) otherwise violates applicable state, federal, local, or provincial law.
MORALITY. Sponsor may, at its option, disqualify any Winner if: (a) Winner commits or is alleged to have committed any criminal act or other act involving moral turpitude or felonious activities; or (b) Winner commits any act or becomes involved in any situation or occurrence which brings him/her into public disrepute, contempt, scandal, or ridicule, or which shocks or offends the community or any group or class thereof, or which reflects unfavorably upon Sponsor.
INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE. Sponsor will be collecting information provided in the application during the Entry process. Any personal information collected may be used by Sponsor and its agents for purposes of the administration and fulfillment of the Contest and as otherwise described in these Official Rules. In addition, you agree that Sponsor or its agents can contact you with periodic communications relating to future contests, Sponsor’s services, or other events/promotions/service features that Sponsor considers may be of interest to you. By submitting an Entry, you agree and acknowledge that you may be contacted by Sponsor via email or direct mail. You further agree and acknowledge that email communication shall not be considered to be unsolicited commercial email or spam.

DISCLAIMERS. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAWS, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL SPONSOR, IT SUBSIDIARIES, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUCCESSORS OR ASSIGNS (COLLECTIVELY “SPONSOR PARTIES”), OR Meta Platforms, Inc., HAVE ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE RESULTING DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM, WITHOUT LIMITATION, (A) YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST; (B) YOUR RECEIPT, USE OR REDEMPTION OF THE PRIZE OR YOUR SHARE OF THE PRIZE; OR (C) YOUR INABILITY TO RECEIVE, USE OR REDEEM THE PRIZE OR A SHARE OF THE PRIZE, UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY CAUSE OF ACTION WHETHER IN TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), CONTRACT OR OTHERWISE, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER ANY SPONSOR PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW, THE SPONSOR PARTIES EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER STATUTORY, EXPRESS, OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THE PRIZE. IN NO EVENT WILL THE SPONSOR PARTIES BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE CONTEST, PRIZE, OR THESE OFFICIAL RULES.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. IN NO EVENT WILL THE SPONSOR PARTIES’ LIABILITY TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE CONTEST OR THESE OFFICIAL RULES, UNDER ANY THEORY, EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
INDEMNITY. You agree to release, indemnify, defend and hold Sponsor and its subsidiaries, and their respective directors, officers, employees, successors and assigns, and any other persons and organizations related to the Contest, including Meta Platforms, Inc., harmless, from any and all claims, injuries, damages, expenses or losses to person or property and/or liabilities of any nature that arise from your participation in the Contest or acceptance or use of a Prize or any portion thereof, including without limitation (i) any condition caused by events beyond Sponsor’s control that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (ii) any claim that an Entry infringes a third party’s intellectual property or proprietary rights; (iii) any injuries, losses, or damages (compensatory, direct, incidental, consequential or otherwise) of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the Contest, or acceptance, possession, or use of the Prize, or from participation in the Contest; (iv) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest or any technical errors that may impair your ability to participate in the Contest; (v) errors in the administration of the Contest; or (vi) any non-compliance by you with these Official Rules.
DISPUTES; MANDATORY ARBITRATION. The construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules along with the rights and obligations of you and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Utah, U.S.A., without giving effect to the conflict of laws rules thereof. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein. If there are any discrepancies or conflicts between printed, digital or other promotional materials, or any other written or verbal representations regarding the Contest and these Official Rules, the provisions of these Official Rules will govern and control.
Except where prohibited by law, you agree that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest, the Official Rules, or any scholarship awarded hereunder, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action.
DISPUTE RESOLUTION. The procedure for resolving disputes arising out of this Agreement between the parties shall be as follows: (a) the parties will meet and confer in good faith to resolve the dispute; (b) for any disputes that have not been resolved through the good faith discussions, the parties must then participate in a mediation in administered in accordance with the applicable mediation rules of the Utah Uniform Arbitration Act, which mediation may be conducted remotely (e.g., by videoconference) unless the mediator determines an in-person session is necessary; and (c) for any disputes that have not been resolved through mediation, the parties must then participate in binding arbitration administered in accordance with the applicable rules of the Utah Uniform Arbitration Act, which arbitration may be conducted remotely unless the arbitrator determines an in-person hearing is necessary. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek relief in small claims court for disputes or claims within that court’s jurisdiction. This Section shall not apply to any party who seeks injunctive relief.
ENTIRE AGREEMENT. Except as expressly provided herein, these Official Rules set forth the entire understanding and agreement between you and Sponsor regarding, or related in any way to, the Contest, and you acknowledge and agree that there are no other representations or agreements between you and Sponsor regarding the Contest. The Winner may be required to execute additional documents or enter into a separate publicity release apart from these Official Rules prior to the release of the Prize funds.
