Because it’s located further inland than cities like Stratford and Bridgeport, East Hartford has a little less humidity by comparison. However, like much of Connecticut, East Hartford still has plenty of small ponds, brooks, and other water features that can support pests of all kinds. The biggest issues citizens in East Hartford may come across are wasps and ants.
Wasps are the most dangerous pest problem throughout Connecticut. Wasps like yellowjackets, hornets, and paper wasps can make nests in eaves and soffits, under house siding, among tree branches, inside wooden or metal fences, or even underground. They’re also hyper-territorial and aggressive. For some people, a wasp sting might only raise a painful welt for a few days. For others, a single sting could be deadly.
Ants are pervasive throughout the entire United States, and East Hartford is no exception. Common house-invading ants include pavement ants, pharaoh ants, odorous house ants, and carpenter ants. Of all the types that cause problems for homeowners, carpenter ants are the most destructive. They use their massive jaws to carve tunnels and galleries through wooden structures. Carpenter ants can live inside a home for 8-10 years and cause thousands of dollars’ worth of damage before they’re discovered. The damage they cause is usually not covered by insurance. For these reasons, it’s critical to contact Fox Pest Control right away if you expect an infestation.
Brian Brown, a Fox manager and resident of East Hartford, is a history buff when it comes to his hometown. East Hartford is a riverside town that’s a bridge away from Hartford, the mecca of culture and diversity. It’s the perfect place for Brian. East Hartford is home to the old Coca-Cola bottling company and the Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field that was originally built to host the New England Patriots. The stadium is now the home field for UConn football, other various sporting events and concerts year round.
Keith Thom started servicing East Hartford when he became part of the Fox Family in September of 2021. Born in New Haven, CT, Keith has lived in Connecticut his whole life. Although he recently had a change in his route, he was an excellent East Hartford exterminator while in the area and has has noteworthy connections to the industrious city of East Harford.
Keith passed the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Company often while servicing in East Hartford. The factory is hard to miss and is a representation of East Hartford’s long history in the aircraft industry. Built in 1925, the company has been producing aircraft parts for almost 100 years! Keith especially enjoys the Cabela’s on East Hartford Boulevard. He’s been to Cabela’s multiple times on his time off to purchase sporting supplies and apparel. The creative animal display at Cabela’s makes shopping trips more of an experience than just a stop for Keith.
The Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company is so popular, there’s even a stadium named after its namesakes. Pratt & Whitney Stadium houses Rentschler field, where Keith has gone to attend University of Connecticut Huskies football games. For Keith, watching a game in-person is the perfect way to spend a weekend after a busy week providing pest control services. In addition to football, the stadium also hosts soccer games. What’s better than game day?
Here at Fox, we’re so grateful to Keith for joining our team and for his hard work to help make Fox Pest Control one of the best companies to receive a quality home pest control service in the East Hartford area.
