The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is an event that the team at Fox Pest Control’s Harrisburg Branch looks forward to each year. Due to COVID restrictions and precautions, the parade has been absent from the community for the last two years leaving a whole in the hearts of many.
When the team learned that the parade was returning in 2022, they quickly jumped in to sponsor the event to ensure that this community staple is top-notch, serving as a re-opening of community gathering and celebration.
“The St. Patrick’s Day Parade brings together the entire community for a day of fun, celebration, heritage and showmanship. It’s a can’t-miss, annual tradition for so many,” shared Jim Tarman, Branch Manager. “Fox is honored to be able to sponsor this year’s event and we look forward to seeing everyone there in their favorite shade of green!”
This year, the parade kicks off at 2pm on March 19, following the conclusion of the Lucky Charm race, a four-mile run that takes up to 1,000 registered participants through the streets of Harrisburg. The parade starts on the Market Street Bridge, turning on to Second Street, where it will continue until turning left on North Street and traveling along Front Street until it meets up again on the Market Street Bridge. As always, spectators are encouraged to find their viewing spots early as the event always draws a large crowd.
An annual tradition in Harrisburg, the parade features an assortment of entertainment and fun, including Irish dance groups, pipe and drum bands, fire trucks, floats, tractors, marching bands, famous characters, local representatives, cool cars and cute animals. This year, ten different bands and three Irish dance groups are scheduled to participate, including Celtic United Pipes & Drums, Central York Middle School Fife and Drum Corps, Ceol Neamh Pipe Band, John F. Nicoll Pipe Band, The Kiltie Band of York, Nittany Highland Pipe Band, Quittapahilla Highlanders, Steelton-Highspire Roller Pride Marching Band, Susquehanna Pipes and Drums, Ulster Scottish Pipe Band, and the Carraig School of Irish Dance, McGinley School of Irish Dance, and Oh! Gill’s Irish Dance Team.
