November is traditionally a month of thanks in the United States. It’s a time to spend with family, count your blessings and get ready for the holiday season. This month at Fox Pest Control, we were able to do exactly that. Rochester, Syracuse, Westchester, Oxford, Cranston and Albany each participated in activities that enabled us to share our gratitude and give back.
Members of Fox’s Rochester and Syracuse branches loaded the month with activities to help the community. First, leaders and team members put together gift baskets for firefighters in the area. They delivered the baskets as a small token of appreciation for the life-saving work these noble men and women do every day. In addition, they also sent gift cards to a local children’s hospital in hopes of brightening someone’s day.
Lastly, both branches participated in a food drive that goes through November to collect items for the Irondequoit Community Cupboard. Technicians and customers alike are participating. We can’t wait to see the outcome of their combined efforts!
In the true spirit of Thanksgiving, both the Westchester and Albany branches participated in turkey trots. Our Westchester branch donated money to sponsor the Marisa Fund, a non-profit that raises money for the research, treatment and care of pediatric cancer patients. When members of the Marisa Fund asked our Westchester team if they would be interested in participating in their virtual, 5-mile turkey trot from Nov. 22 – 29, everyone quickly hopped on board. All proceeds from the event go toward funding child cancer research and treatments.
Our Albany branch also decided to sponsor a turkey trot, this time in the town of Bethlehem, NY. The event, called Our Town Bethlehem Turkey Trot, is held every year before Thanksgiving. Organizers worked hard to make the event safe and socially-distanced so those who loved the turkey trot could still participate. Our own social media manager, Nicole Rice, participated in the run.
It’s fitting that Veterans Day comes every year on November 11. What better time to show our appreciation for our veterans than in the month of thanks? Here at Fox, we’re lucky to employ a large number of Veterans. In fact, more than 20 percent of Pest Pros in Connecticut and Rhode Island are veterans! These two branches, along with Westchester, gave their Pest Pro Veterans camouflage American flag hats with the Fox logo on it along with some extras to give to other vets.
To provide aid to returned soldiers, the owner of these branches, Sterfling Fife, contributed a generous donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. This non-profit organization aids wounded vets in their transition back to civilian life.
In the spirit of thanks, Sterling praised our country’s brave veterans.
“Our American freedoms are a result of the sacrifices of those who have served our country.
We’re proud to employ veterans, and even more proud to provide services to those who have put their lives on the line,” he said. “Veterans Day may only be one day a year, but we value and recognize those who serve all-year round. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.”
