Fox Pest Control Sponsors Lemonade Day in McAllen to Encourage Entrepreneurship

Ten years ago, brother-in-laws Mike Romney and Bryant White, started their entrepreneurial journey together, launching Fox Pest Control. Opening their own business wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t exactly something they’d been aspiring to do since they were kids. Today, as highly-successful entrepreneurs, Mike and Bryant dedicate a lot of their time to helping others reach their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs, helping them open Fox Pest Control branches in their communities. 

With the help and encouragement of Mike and Bryant, Jason Castelan has become the owner of two different Fox Pest Control branches – one in Corpus Christi and one in McAllen. Jason knows first-hand the hard work and dedication that goes into being a business owner. But, more importantly than that, Jason knows how amazing and life-changing it can be to be your own boss and operate your own business. 

Entrepreneurship and leadership empowerment is in Fox’s DNA, so when we learned about Lemonade Day in McAllen, the McAllen team knew a donation and sponsorship of the event was a must. 

Lemonade Day, which is organized locally by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce, is a free, fun, experiential learning program that teaches youth how to start, own and operate their own business. In this case, a lemonade stand. 

The main goal of Lemonade Day is to empower youth to take ownership of their lives and future. It began in McAllen, Texas in 2014. The main goal of Lemonade Day is to empower the next generation with the life skills, mentorship and real-world experience needed to achieve their own American Dream and become productive members of society. 

Each child that participates in the program receives a backpack with an Entrepreneur Workbook that teaches them the lessons of Lemonade Day. These lessons include creating budgets, setting profit-making goals, serving customers, repaying investors, and giving back to the community. Throughout the program, kids learn how to set goals and solve real-world problems. They keep all the money they make and are encouraged to spend some, save some and share some.
