Fox Pest Control Sponsors Valley Nature Center

The oldest nature center in the Rio Grande Valley has a new sponsor. The team at Fox Pest Control’s McAllen Branch is excited to share that effective immediately, Fox Pest Control is now an official sponsor of the Valley Nature Center!

A 6-acre park, the Valley Nature Center (VNC) is home to a wide variety of plants and animals native to the Rio Grande Valley. Located right in the middle of the city, VCN guests will enjoy cactus gardens, butterfly gardens, bird feeding stations, wetland, walking trails and more.

Since opening in 2014, many plants from throughout the community have been transplanted to VNC to protect them from removal in areas that were being redeveloped. At VNC, guests will enjoy a bounty of different plants and animals. By enjoying the trails of the VNC, guests can enjoy and closely examine diverse areas such as the Sabal Palm Grove, Arroyo Colorado Brush, the Barretal, Coastal Lomas and the Chihuahuan Thorn Forest.

One little known fact about VNC is that it is the only non-profit center fully dedicated to environmental education south of San Antonio and east of Eagle Pass. By offering interactive displays and a wealth of educational programs including school field trips, live animal presentation, South Texas history classes and nature camps for kids, VNC focuses on ensuring that individuals of all ages know and understand about the plants, animals and natural elements in our community. However, the main goal of educational programming is to promote environmental stewardship and care, ensuring that the next generation not only understands nature, but commits to taking care of it.

Nestled in one of the top birding and butterfly destinations in the United States, VNC gives guest the chance to see Malachite and Pixie butterflies, Plain Chachalcas, Great Kiskadees, and Buff-bellied Hummingbirds. Additionally, Texas Tortoises, Eastern Cottontail Rabbits and several lizards and amphibians also call VNC home.
