2020 changed the world. Here in the U.S., we watched as wildfires burned through millions of acres, we battled (and continue to battle) Coronavirus, we participated in a record-breaking presidential election, and we experienced many more ups and downs than any of us could have imagined when this year began.
After all the chaos, everyone was in need of a little kindness and joy, including our Fox teams. To spread some holiday cheer, Fox Pest Control branches across the nation used the month of December to engage in philanthropic projects.
A Fox Family Christmas
Our Lexington branch found several ways to give back this holiday season. Branch manager Ronnie Wright learned that a previous Fox customer was struggling financially and unable to provide Christmas gifts for his family. Ronnie took the opportunity to purchase gifts for the customer’s children.
“These people were loyal customers of ours for a while. They’ve always been kind, and we enjoyed every opportunity we had to service their home,” Ronnie said. “It just felt right to repay them, and seeing the kids’ excitement over their presents was the perfect way to end the holiday season.”
Kendyl and Friends
In addition to the Christmas presents, the Lexington branch also donated to their partners Kendyl and Friends, a nonprofit that builds inclusive playgrounds for special needs children. The Lubbock, Midland, McAllen, Corpus Christi, Virginia Beach, Manchester and Boston branches hopped on board, bringing the donation total to $2,400.
Though Fox will continue to support Kendyl and Friends on their incredible mission, the organization is still in need of donations! To donate, visit Kendyl and Friends.
For most people, December brings an onslaught of winter weather permeated with holiday spirit. For that reason, four of our Fox branches decided to run special holiday fundraisers.
Whether in Texas or New York, no one should be out in the elements without a coat. Lubbock branch manager Emmanuel Gaytan realized there was a need in his community and rallied his branch and Fox customers for a coat drive. Their combined efforts brought in 250 coats! 150 of the coats went to kids at the Texas Boys Ranch, an emergency shelter for boys and girls in foster care. The other 100 coats were donated to Paul’s Project, a non-profit that helps equip the homeless with temporary shelter. This experience opened the door for a long-term partnership with both of these fantastic organizations.
Our McAllen, Boston and Manchester branches opted to spread holiday cheer with toys! The economic impact of Covid has made this holiday season difficult for many families. Fox’s branches donated to Toys for Tots where 97% of donations go directly to providing for less fortunate children.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to help those in need. All three branches were able to spread the word to customers and the Fox team to pull together donations. McAllen’s drive was even covered on the local KRGV Channel 5 News. To learn more about McAllen’s Toys for Tots drive and how you can help out, here.
Samantha Ronci began Sami’s Sendoffs when she was only 15 years old. Through donations and raising funds selling Sami’s Sendoffs clothing, the organization is able to send care packages to children with cancer. Fox’s Rhode Island branch contributed funds to send packages to several children around the holidays.
As with all the causes Fox supports, Sami’s Sendoffs needs your help to continue giving back. Support Samantha in her goal here.
