Fox Pest Control Sponsors Helping Hounds Dog Rescue

If you ask us, cape-wearing heroes are cool, but they don’t really impress us. We’re more enamored with the everyday heroes that live and work in our community.  

One group of everyday heroes in the Syracuse area is the team at Helping Hounds Dog Rescue (HHDR). And, we’re proud to share that Fox Pest Control’s Syracuse Branch is now an official sponsor of the organization. 

HHDR unintentionally started in 2008 when a group of dog lovers joined forces to save Lola Jean, a momma beagle, and her pups from euthanasia. After the rescue, the next dog arrived in need of help and the official formation and incorporation of HHDR took place in 2009. Since that first rescue, HHDR has grown into a full blown operation with more than 300 volunteers providing over 20,000 hours of service to hundreds of dogs.

The heart of HHDR is an adoption program that screens applicants and matches families to the dog that is the best fit for a mutually beneficial life together. Each year, the adoption program reaches more and more dogs and families, saving thousands of lives. To help traditional shelters and dog control facilities avoid euthanization, HHDR works to accept their unwanted dogs and find fitting homes.
